Royal Asiatic Society,
5, New Burlington Street,
London, 21 April 1860
Dear Sir,
I hasten to inform you that the Council of this day has accepted with thanks your offer to give the society your winter paper for the Journal. <1> The number in print is 1000. The paging will follow Rawlinson’s on the Birs Nimrud, <2> which is stitched up in the volume you have. I have not the book here to refer to. I think it would be as well, to avoid any errors that your printer should send me one copy as a proof after the alteration of the pages.
The Council also resolved to put you in nomination for election as a member of Council at the May anniversary meeting, if you consent. The election is for two years, and if you thought you might occasionally be in town a part of that period, you might feel inclined to give your assent. The attendance of course is not compulsory.
Please excuse this hurried note as post is going out
Yours Truly
Edwin Norris
