My dear Henry

I received your letter & when I go to Egypt I will look out for curiosities manuscripts & antiquities for you, but I intend to buy as many as I can get for myself; I hope Egypt will furnish enough for us both –

I am now waiting only for a wind to go to Cadiz, Lord Yarborough ^<1> in the Falcon yacht will accompany me as far as Ushant, & then he goes into Brest. My doctor, & my French servant both left me suddenly as the vessel was leaving Southampton. Masson ^<2>, being in dread of sea-sickness, and the doctor, on account of his feelings overcoming him at the idea of leaving a country he had resided in for 25 years – he had been only 3 days on board, & professed to like it extremely till the fatal moment of weighing anchor arrived – I afterwards discovered he was in love. However I have replaced both steward & doctor, by very good substitutes. The doctor was no botanist, hated travelling; & told me he admired no scenery but that of London!! In fact he was no go. Pray tell M^r Feilding ^<3> I will send him a butt of the very best, and I have a fair claim on the Consul as I am taking his son out as a passenger to Cadiz. I received the Sextant very safe.

PS. my direction is The care of J M Brackenbury Esq^r HBM - Consul Cadiz ^<4> letters may be sent inclosed to him thro’ the foreign Office – I have some idea of cutting the gulf of Lyons altogether & proceeding straight for Sicily – but shall be very ready to meet you there, as I always like the second visit better than the first
