Drummond Castle <1>
Saturday 3d October
My Dear Henry
I write by desire of Lady Willoughby <2> to invite you here, & only fear it will prevent you going to Sir Henry Stuart’s <3>. We do not go to Scone till Thursday the 8th
Mr F. <4> is out shooting but he said to me (I think) that the Mail would from Glasgow to Perth would set you down at the Park Gate, where you must stop before you get to Crieffe – or if you go on to Crieff [sic] you can get a Chaise or Cart to bring your things. This is not a place to arrive at in the dark I think the approach dangerous with precipices [sic] &c
They dine at 7 but are not very exact in all respects the very reverse of the last place. If you are engaged to spend Monday at Sir Henry Stuart’s I suppose you cannot come here till Tuesday, but it is just possible we may stay here after Thursday, so that then you can do both, & I should be glad you did as much & saw as much while you are in Scotland as possible. There is a letter at the Post office Glasgow from Amandier <5> for Horatia <6>, will you bring it &c & my parcel which I fully expect must be at one or other of these two Hotels
I am writing in a hurry not [missing text] miss this post, ainsi scusate <7>–
You know Mr F’s handwriting
