My dear Constance
The train left Bath very punctually, so that I had a rapid journey and arrived here at 3.20 being only an hour and a half from door to door. The wind was cold. I then took a turn in the garden and found several pretty things in the houses.
We have a new Lychnis that is small and gay called Lychnis Lagascae and a very neat little thing called Romanzoffia Sitkensis native of the Russian colony of Silka (a very cold place near Behrings Straits)
Some of our out of door plants you ought to have at Bath, such as Russian Thlaspi which makes showy white masses (in the style of Arabis alpina) – Orobus vernus and several others –
Your affte
Henry
I found my chimney quite finished, & it looks well.
