Sir
I am gratified with the progress exhibited in the proofs you have sent me a little of that stopping out you have resorted to in some of the skies would enable you to get up some of your half tint without muddling your deeper tones by overbiting
I am still of opinion that you are losing time in confining your attention to small subjects and that you will find great facilities in larger and broader effects from the application of that aquatint ground you shewed me in the spring – I have really been doing so little this autumn that I could well have afforded a months help to you, but things are changing –
Most truly yrs
