Dear Sir
Yours of the 20th of Feby has remained a long time unanswered, but the fact was, when it came here I was absent from home –
I am much obliged by your offer of 20 tons of your ore – but it would be impossible for us to try so small a quantity, besides which we should not like to put into our furnaces a strange ore & with which we were not acquainted – as it might put our furnaces altogether out, a rather serious matter <1> – Nothing can be going on better than we are here – every day shows us that we can make first class iron, & those who have bought & tried it say that better iron they never had, nor could have. /
I remain Dear sir Yours very truly
