Byam House Brighton
Tuesday Novr 3rd 1840 –

My dear Henry

I am so sorry to have missed you in London – Suppose you come & see me here instead – It is a very small journey & will do you all the good in the world – The air is delicious – so bracing & yet so mild! I assure you when I am sitting in this warm sunny room, with the window open & the waves dashing on the beach, I fancy myself at Nice – I am sure the change of air will do you good – so as it is late I shall say no more, but expect you to accept my invite– It will give you new ideas upon Photographs –

Yrs affly
Caroline

Thursday is Val’s <1> Birthday come & wish jo him joy –
