My dear Henry
I hope you will keep all your letters of congratulation for us to read – We I have none yet: but Matilda has a very warmhearted one from Charles – and also from her friends Sarah & Isabel Spedding.
Mr Clark came back yesterday evening in good time to meet us at Mrs Neaves’s ball. This morning he is at the Concert with Mlle <Amélina> and Matilda. – I gave him your message, and he appeared rather startled to hear that you were gone. He has an idea that the Scotch practice is for the Solicitor on the Lady’s side to commence – but he will ascertain this fact – and I recommended his writing to you on the subject if there was anything for you to do, before your return –
Your affectionate
Constance –
