Sir
I am glad that the specimens of engraving sent on the 8th inst. <1> gave satisfaction – I shall not be able to attend the next meeting of your society as I am going to London tomorrow, but I hope to send some better engravings for exhibition <2> – Should these not be ready in time, they can be sent a little later, and perhaps, if they are large ones I can have them framed and glazed for exposition –
I remain Yours very truly
H. F. Talbot
A. Adam Esq.
Notes:
1. The notes of the meeting of the Photographic Society of Scotland show that WHFT, while unable to attend the meeting as expeced, nonetheless sent numerous specimens of photoglyphic engraving for the members’ attention. The letter that accompanied these specimens has not been located.
2. The fifth exhibition of the Photographic Society of Scotland ran from 2 February 1861 to 6 April of the same year. WHFT is not noted as an exhibitor but there were more than 700 subjects in the exhibition and not all are listed.
