In answer to your letter respecting the Chippm Literacy & Scientific Institution I beg to inform you that it was originated by a few young men, and has been established but a quarter of a year, yet the number of members already amount to thirty – The Rev W Short <2> has expressed his approbation of it, and has given reason to expect he will shortly become a member. He has presented a Donation of Books to the Library – as have also Mr Colborne <3> and other Gentlemen. The list of Members include: –
