Dear Sir

I am glad to learn by your letter this morning that the tone of your previous communication <1> was not to be taken as an index of your feelings, and the withdrawal of your hasty expressions has relieved me of many unpleasant feelings. We have each erred once through an over-hasty spirit, but as in each case a proper and honorable acknowledgement [sic] has made, I for my part shall be willing to bury it all in oblivion, and meet you with the same cordiality as at first

I have received from a friend the address of his solicitor, but have not yet called upon him, because I thought that previous to troubling him, I had better have a personal interview with yourself. This interview seems to me necessary because there were one or two points on which we seemed to differ in our late communications, <2> and we should have them perfectly understood. All our agreement and intentions should be written out in a precise form between ourselves, and then our solicitors will have nothing to do but to put them in legal form. If we cannot coincide on those points it is better to know it before troubling those gentlemen. I have very little doubt that in a proper explanation of our views, we shall be found to agree perfectly, for I am not conscious of wishing anything but what I deem perfectly equitable

I shall be happy to meet you at any hour you may appoint either tomorrow or Wednesday, when we will note all the articles down on paper so that there can be no misunderstanding

Please allow me to see at the same time a copy of the specifications <3>

I would be well, meantime, for each party to note what points may require to be elucidated or added for the sake of being more explicit.

I remain, Sir
Your Obt Servt

E. Anthony

H. Fox Talbot Esq.
