Dear Sir,
The plan you propose would bring the poles very close, in fact; more effectively, than could have been done by my diligently following your original order, the oversight of which I much regret. The pieces being firmly screwed down on the poles of the magnets I think your piece of brass will be required – the surface for placing on the armature or keeper would be left quite flat the “taper head screw” being let in flush. – The depressions I will make just depth enough so that the iron does not rest heavily on the brass circular ends of the poles.
