My dear Sir
Your letter, altho' addressed to my late residence, duly reached me & in reply to it I beg to say that I shall have a real pleasure in placing your little boy's name on my "Admission List," & [illegible deletion] receiving him, (should you wish to avail yourself of a vacancy at that time) after the next Xmas holidays.
Lady Mt Edgcumbe, when she left England about two years since, requested me to put Charlie's name on my List - but it was left quite open & undecided when he shd join - indeed I begged that his name being on my List might not be any tie on my future arrangements that it might seem desirable to make -
I had a delightful letter from Valletort some time since wh I am shocked to think I have never answered, at least my reply has not reached him altho' I have written thrice
The first I never sent for it was written about the time of the first outbreak at Palermo & I was un-certain where I shd have addressed & the other addressed last summer to Mt Edgcumbe has returned to me - I shall feel very much obliged by your informing me where a letter would be likely to reach Lady Mt E. on her arrival in England.
As I shd be able to receive yr son after Xmas perhaps you may not think it desirable to make any change as regards his Tutor
I will if you will permit me, very shortly, give in detail what I shd recommend as his preparatory plan of study & perhaps you will kindly inform me what he has already done
I post this at Oxford whither I am on my road to give my Vote for the chair of Logic it is Expected to be a severe struggle.
Pray believe me my dear Sir Very Sincerely Yrs
