Jany 20. 1847
Dear Sir,
I do not feel authorised to accept of your proposition – for the reasons before stated I do not consider that there is any doubt as to the true construction of the Agreement and Award in reference to your purchase money, and I cannot consider the sites of the Bridges to be any longer an open question – Your own letter to Mr Ward of which you sent me a Copy seems to me to show plainly that Mr Little was (as far as the Company is concerned) your Agent in the matter –
Under these circumstances I fear it is out of my power to make any other proposition to you in reference to the third Bridge than that contained in my letter to Messrs Awdry of Chippenham of the 31st Ult.
I am Dear Sir
Your obedient faithful Sert
H. G. Awdry.
