Chippenham <1>
12 Sep. 1865
Dear Sir,
I have made a corrected list of the Tenants occupying the Cottages &c in the Village, set forth in the map of 1843. and it is now being copied – You shall have it in a day or two. and I will also let you have my Account which ought to have been delivered before, The Election and some other pressing matters must plead my excuse. Mr Nicholl <2> is anxious to make a payment to his Builder on Account of the new Vicarage, but he cannot receive any money from Queen Anne’s Bounty in Consequence of the Bishops absence, at present – I presume you will not object to join him in a note of hand for £4 or £500 – if I take it from my Bankers. His house is rising rapidly.
I remain Your obliged
