Chippenham <1>
11 April 1842
Dear Sir
The Fussells <2> are now satisfied as to the £5: 5: 0 having been paid for the Rent of the Grand Pit Plantation from Micas 1834 to Ladyday /38 but they consider themselves entitled to an allowance at the same rate (30s per Ann:) to the present time – and I think so too, unless it should appear that their Father received any Compensation from the Canal Compy, as to wch I will make enquiry of their Clerk –
I return the Anonymous Letter you lent me, but I cannot make out the Writer –
John Humphrys <3> paid me the 5/– for mending the iron fence at the time, and I will pay Phelps <4> at the Audit –
Have you determined to whom I shall remit the balance of your last Years Account and the usual payments on Account of the present Year after your audit which is appointed for the 18th & 19th inst?
I remain
Dear Sir
Your obliged Servant
West Awdry.
