Chippenham <1>
Augt 23d 1825
Dear Sir/
I understand that Mr Grosett <2> is expected at the Abbey tomorrow & the family have been there for some time past – on the other side <3> is an Authority (copied from the Act of Parliamt) which I have to request the favor of you to sign & date & return to me some day previous to the 13th of September – as it will enable me to save the Auction Duty in case the Property should not fetch its estimated value – I had occasion to write to Mr King <4>, respecting the Leaves & requested him to get this Authority signed, but in my Letter to him to day, I have informed him that I should send it to you at Clifton –
I am Dear Sir Yr Obliged & obedt Sert
W. H. Awdry
