Sir/

With this you will receive 2 new steel plates, & 1 old one, that has been repolished. Also 20 of each of 5 plates as a sample of the paper & style of printing – the cost of Paper & printing pr 100 such as sent 8vo Demy 60 lb. weight, & of finest quality, will be 6/– pr 100

I deeply regret the long delay with these, caused first by the difficulty of procuring the steel to our mind, & the only house that could supply us with proper quality, having been unable to do so, for the fact of their rebuilding their premises. If however these 2 sample plates are to your mind, we shall now be able to give you any quantity in a short time. A pressure of all sorts of printing during the last 3 months, prevented our making a trial with the 5 engraved plates sent me. If I am favoured with yr further commands as regards the steel plates & printing, you may rely upon immediate attention.

I am Sir Yours respectfully
William Banks
