Dr Sir
I have received a copy of Dr Hincks’s list of Assyrian Characters, if it was forwarded by you pray accept my best thanks.
I find that it is a condensed view of his researches & results contained in the Transtns of the Irish Academy printed in a form of course much more commodious for general use, than the Original Memoir. As Rawlinson’s list is the result of independent research, the two lists control and confirm Each other in numerous instances – But there is a great deal more to be said about these Characters and I foresee that they will give rise to many voluminous researches. The whole thing is full of interest to philology in Sacred history
Believe me, Dear Sir Yours vy truly
