My Dear Sir

I had already left the isle of Wight when you wrote your last letter, otherwise I should have been happy to make enquiries respecting the Assyrian antiquities which you mention.

I have purchased a copy, at a venture, of Oppert’s last work, which you allude to in your letter, but tho’ very handsomely got up and printed, I doubt whether it contains much novelty
