23rd June 1858

My dear Sir

I was in Wilts last week & enquired whether you were at home & should have called had you been so – I am sorry I cannot do so this week – but if you are returning to Town I would take an opportunity if convenient to call upon you here –

Can you tell me whether your Tacklemore Wood extends all the way round to Mr Starkeys <1> land – & Mr Lysley’s? <2> or whether there is any other owner adjoining you on the north side of your property?

I am very anxious to see that there will be no difficulty as to a tramway on that side for that must be the line I fear –

Yours faithfully

George Cottrell

2. William John Lysley (1791–1873), MP and sherriff. [See Who’s Who of British Members of Parliament].
