Dear Sir
I am very sorry if my anxiety to obtain a specimen for my Journal of your new discovery should have caused me to write as if I had the slightest claim upon you for such courtesy. I was certainly not warranted by any expressions contained in your letter in so writing, and I much regret that I should have written any thing to render this explanation necessary.
Messrs Petter & Galpin are Copper plate, and lithographic as well as ordinary printers, but they desire me to say that if their press is at all occupied by any other printing they will be most happy to avail themselves of the assistance of Mr Brooker, or of anyone else recommended by you.
With respect to the copyright of the French pictures, it is very easy to make a French copyright extend to England, but whether that has been done in the case of the pictures you refer to could only be told by enquiry.
If you would send me any particulars you may possess respecting the pictures I have no doubt I shall be able to find out all necessary information.
Believe me very truly yours
William Crookes
