Dear Henry
Though following your instructions as carefully as I could I have failed in making the paper to colour evenly out in my attempts to fix it satisfactorily. I therefore send you two attempts at drawings of my neices [sic] in the hope that you will take the impressions, fix them and return them, that they may at any rate be able to judge what their effect would is. Of course any suggestions would be thankfully received. I hope we shall be off for Buxton <1> on Tuesday next,
Yours affte
Valt
