Dear Talbot /

I am ashamed not to have replied to your obliging Note <1> before: but I have been so constantly engaged with Yeomanry Duty, that I have really not had a minute for writing.

I truly applaud your Determination to come down to Lacock tho’ I trust you will not have occasion to employ force in your immediate Neighbourhood.

We have this morning despatched a Detachment to Chippenham.

If you have a mind to come here, you will find many Gentlemen assembled, and a most hearty welcome at our Mess, from all and particularly from
