My Dear Mr Feilding

Gardner <1> of Regent Street says the maps you wish for will not be published till next year. I had a long chat with King <2> yesterday about different things - It is very odd that J. Talbot the younger <3> in his will bequeaths to his sister Martha <4> & so on in strict entail, his manors & lands in Herefordshire. King says he never heard of any Herefordshire property, & rather thinks that John Talbot was mistaken in supposing he had any. I have made out what became of J. Talbot's estate of Charlton.<5> He left his two nieces 4000£ each & directed in his will that the money should be raised by a mortgage on the Lacock estate, but instead of doing so his Heirs got an Act of Parliament in 1784 to allow them to sell the Charlton estate for the above purpose, and they accordingly sold it to Edward Poore Esq. of Rushall <6> for 8000 £ which I reckon was only 16 years purchase, and therefore not a very well judged proceeding. William <7> stays in Town a day or two longer to see Lord Dudley. <8>

Yours affly

H. Talbot
