My dear Henry

I have been looking at the windows in the South Gallery today – with Reading,<1> & he has stated an idea I think not bad which is to take away the present heavy mullion & transom <2> – substituting 2 light mullions as on the other side, the shape of the Heads as you may like.

Things going on very well in general. the Diamond squares for my window, look well outside, but very bad within, there is to all appearances as much lead as glass & of course little light.

Notes:

1. Probably David Reading, builder, working on Lacock Abbey.

2. Mullion (vertical) and transom (horizontal) slender supports that form a division between glazed areas of a window.
