Blackham <1> has measured the distance from the conduit it is exactly 2007 yards as the Pipe comes – 2557 by the road side – but the reverse to this bright side is that the lead pipe being ductile follows the undulations of the ground, whereas for the Iron Pipe must either be cast on purpose for each undulation or the trench dug in some places, he says 10 or 12 Feet – This is to me an unforeseen difficulty, nor can I yet calculate what wd be the least expence – digging or casting – they go on prosperously & speedily with the room – the roof will be all off tomorrow
