Mt Edgcumbe <1>
Tuesday 3rd May 1836

My dear Henry

I rejoice much in the prospect of seeing you so soon – write again & tell me exactly when we may expect you, & if Constance & Ela <2> are coming too – I hope you will not fail to come immediately, as now Mamma <3> is coming home you will be wanting to go & meet her – I heard yesterday from Paris, 27th April, their then intentions were to be in Sackville St <4> 6th May, but that I think wholly improbable, having such millions of things to do & people to see – & as Papa <5> was in bed with a pain in his foot – which I am in hopes was not of much consequence – Besides I should not think they would set off while these gales last, as even the land journey would be very disagreeable, let alone the passage to Dover – Let me know if you hear anything more from them – All the seeds arrived in safety – When I enclose anything to Uncle Wm <6> ought I to direct Burlington St <7> or F.O.? <8> & should I put “private”?

Addio fratello mio caro <9> – Yr affte Sister
Caroline

Another of Lady Shelley’s <10> sons is just married – by name Adolphus – to a Miss Hinchcliffe – rich & many years older than himself –
Love to Constance & Ela
