My dear Henry
I was delighted to get your letter two days ago, not knowing whereabouts you were. You must never depend upon such slippery people as we are – any more than we do on you. Néris is given up, upon medical advice, & Milord <2> set off to Paris at 6 o’clock this morning – I am on the point of starting – one P.M. & we are going to stay there for a space to be under Dr Trousseau’s care. You shall know our new address – but we are always to be heard of at Meurice’s – so shall hope to see you in yr way. I am in despair abt Horatia <3> – much fearing she is gone all out of her way to see us at Néris – tho’ I did what I cd to stop her – In the extremest haste,
Yrs affly
Caroline
