My dear Henry
I stay one day longer here – & shall arrive at 33 Belgrave Sqre on Wednesday. – I heard yesterday from Christina; <1> who is there with Theresa, <2> awaiting Jane’s <3> arrival. She was expected last week – & they did not know what had detained her. Johnny <4> went to Nice to fetch her. Lucy <5> is gone to Bagnères with Melle Berguier.
I am afraid our Caroubas are dead – after being out so many years. The large one was 40 yrs old.
The Eucalyptus is very sick – The Olive has not turned a leaf – while several common laurels are dead – The situation has a great deal to do with these casualties.
Yr affte Sister
Caroline
