Tuesday

My Dear Henry

Yesterday Evening I heard from Caroline, they <1> were lost in wonderment what was become of you! Not having then received the account of your illness – it is dated 7th May. They were to leave Florence to day & take that pretty road you & I went in 1822 to Verona, & over the Brenner to Inspruch <sic> & Munich In short I think the very route you chalked out for them. She desires me to direct to Munich Poste Restante & no more to Florence. She gives no route after Munich so that if you miss them there I don’t know where you can look for them. I hope to be in town tomorrow but have not made up my mind by which train

affly yr

EF

They seem to be both in trouble about you imagining you have long ago left England & yet they have heard nothing of you, which they say is unaccountable – I hope they don’t make themselves unhappy by thinking you are waylaid somewhere on the road
