[fragment - unsigned - the handwriting is that of Lady Elisabeth and the tone is consistent with her letters to her son]

Constance has her children for an occupation, Horatia has her Music - and I want something for (as the newspapers say) an absorbing interest. Few people would be inclined to consider the subject in question in that light I dare say, or perceive how in the concatenation of human affairs, an excavation of a canal (for that is the origin of the previous mound) can influence the pleasure of spirits of a fine lady from the West End - That would be a problem to be solved by the Physiologist.

a speedy answer touching the above will oblige as Time & Seasons wait for no man
