My Dear Mother

I am so sorry for that unlucky drive you took in the open carriage which undid all the good Dunraven <1> had done you – I hope you were well enough to enjoy the very splendid weather of today –

By Mr Kenrick’s <2> advice I put off my journey, as yesterday I was threatened with the prevailing influenza, today I am much better.

We are still in the dismals, the children are getting better except baby who is very poorly and feverish.

Direct to me here, as my movements are very uncertain

Your affte
Henry

In your next, let me know exactly how long you stay at Margam, <3> and whether you pay any other visit in Wales –

Notes:

1. Dunraven Castle, Glamorganshire belonged to Thomas Wyndham. [See Doc. No: 00554].

2. Dr George Cranmer Kenrick, surgeon living at The Grove, Melksham.

3. Margam Park, Glamorgan: home of Christopher Rice Mansel Talbot.
