Mt Edgcumbe <1>
Thursday 21st March
My Dear Henry
I am alarmed by seeing in the Papers that next Saturday is the last day in which dissentients can signify their pleasure about the 3 & ½ pr Cents. This is giving the public very little time to make up their Minds. I want you to go your self to Stilwell <2> Saturday Morning if you are in town, & ask him what he has done about mine I have written to him but had no answer. It appears that it is not in this case Silence gives consent but one must absolutely say whether one consents or dissents, & I certainly don’t wish to be paid off. It is most extraordinary that Stilwell has not answered me, & I see no remedy but your doing what you can for me, by going to him No 22 Arundel Street, Strand which I must beg you will really exert yourself to do, as it is of so much consequence, to me. Whatever is to be done I suppose he can do, as he holds my powers of attorney
There is no time to be lost, & tell me what you have done.
