London
20th Janry 1845
My dear Mother
I think the paper a very inadequate reason for a journey at this season of the year but if you have other affairs, alors c’est different. <1>
Montgomerie <2> went to Dover this Morning. It rained all Sunday, & blew a gale of wind at night, but today is charming, as fine a winter day as can be seen in London. I think on Saturday perhaps I may go to Sandgate.
Richd Burden <3> answered my letter & said that the papers in question were old tradesmens’ receipts
Your affte
Henry
I think No 2 looks very well –
Pray tell me what you decide on doing
Notes:
1. Then it’s different.
2. Rev George Stephen Molyneux Montgomerie (1790–1850), artist, Norwich.
3. Probably R Burden. [See Doc. No: 05159].
