London

My Dear Mother

The Carpet is laid down in the little drawing room, and looks sad and faded. Caroline <1> is expected here Thursday afternoon – I was going to Brighton last night, then put it off till this morning, and now this morning I have things to do that make it inconvenient –

I return to Lacock next Monday. London is very dark and foggy: and perhaps I shall return sooner than Monday

Your affte

Henry

Notes:

1. Caroline Augusta Edgcumbe, née Feilding, Lady Mt Edgcumbe (1808–1881); WHFT’s half-sister.
