Dear Henry

According to your wish, I have read the Pleasures of Hope Gertrude of Wyoming, <1> & several other little pieces, such as HohenLinden Lord Ullin’s Daughter, the Exile of Erin &c. <2> I like Gertrude of Wyoming very much. En fait de livres, <3> the box from London is arrived or is to arrive to-morrow at Florence, and I suppose I must set to work at Russell’s Modern Europe. <4> I am now reading Montesquieu’s Grandeur & Décadence des Romains. <5> – We are to return to Florence to-morrow I cannot think without regret, of leaving this quiet solitude; however the thoughts of having you all soon, makes [sic] me quite gay & happy. I hope this happy moment will soon come, I wish it you could come before or not long after my birthday, however I shall not keep [text missing] till you are here. Pray write to me, dear brother, & give me a [illegible deletion] description of the places you pass through, as you used to do in Switzerland. It is a long time since I have had a letter from you.

Believe me, dearest Henry, Your affectionate sister
Horatia Feilding

Monsr <6>
