My Dear Horatia
I received your letter today, as well as one from Mamma <1> - We had a fog today to enliven us; I don't feel tempted to remain very long in the gaieties of the Metropolis, but hope to join you on Wednesday. I called today at Lansdowne House <2> but they are not expected. Perhaps Lord L's <3> letters to announce his arrival have miscarried. Brighton was very full, some of the people I know were D. of Devonshire Lord Holland, Essex, Dudley, John Russell. Lady Hardy <4> & daughter - Lady R. Fitzgerald <5>- the Montagues (not the Fazakerlys) <6> Mrs Tennant & family of Nice) Lord Templeton <7> & Miss Upton, Lady G. Seymour & Miss Seymour - Charles Fox & Mrs Fox. Rogers - Hallam. Spring Rice. Col & Mrs Ellis. Major Keppel - <8> Charles Long, &c With all these people I thought the place not very agreeable
Your truly affte
Henry
