Brighton
1st January 1830
My Dear Horatia
The commencement of a new year always appears to me rather melancholy, and much more that of a new decennary –
The old one finished yesterday with considerable éclat, <1> the sun shining all day delightfully. I intend staying here till Monday, spending Tuesday in town, & arriving at Lacock on Wednesday. I ordered Moore’s book <2> to be sent to Lacock: you may open the parcel and take it out. I don’t feel inspired to write any more at present, not having heard from any one of you since I have been at Brighton.
Yours Afftly
Henry
