My dear Sir
I enclose you all the Lycian inscriptns which I think you will find necessary these with the few published in my late Journal will comprise almost all that have been seen in Europe – In the work which I now have in hand I intend only to offer the bare facts to the public but I feel so confident of the sufficientcy [sic] of my materials to unravel the language that I regret not registering the suggestions of an Englishman in my apppendix for I know well that the Germans will speedily make it out when they have the materials before them. Mr Sharpe<1> & yourself are the only individuals who have seen the enclosed documents. <2> I know the subject of the great movement to be of high interest & if you can spare time & have no objection I shall feel greatly obliged by being allowed to add to my work your suggestions upon the subject in the form of an appendix & thus fix the discovery upon our nature – I am sorry to say that I am to be out by the Middle of Decr therefore we have but little time to devote to the subject perhaps you will favor me with a line in answer to these suggestions & believe me to remain
Dr Sir Yours very truly
Chs Fellows.
