Derry Hill Chipp Calne
Decr 17. 1839.

Dear Sir,

Tho’ the Derry Hill National School has done much more this year than last year in the way of self support – it is still obliged to beg – & the Manager, the beggar must be – I therefore venture to apply to you, as a Landowner in the District in the hope that this year you will allow yourself to be enrolled among the subscribers & thus to be one of the helpers of our poorer neighbours here, to preserve for their children the means of good education – I shall hope soon to send you a Dt & Cr account of the School Income & Expenditure for this year – but I shall hope before that time that you will enable me, more nearly than at present I can, to balance the Account.

I remain Yours very truly
Henry M. Fletcher.
