My dear Henry,
I hope you will be glad to hear that at last the Memoirs of Mrs Campbell <1> will be published as it has been accepted by the Editor of the “Gentleman’s Magazine”, who thinks it is very interesting.
It will be somewhat abridged from the MS you sent to Macmillan’s Magazine <2> – a part about her brothers, & the Extract from Weld’s Travels <3> being omitted, with a few minor matters, but the Editor assures me that I shall find all that I care for left, & as I am to receive the proofs to correct shortly, I shall then see if it is all right. The “Vision” he will put into his “Table Talk”.
It will, I believe, appear in the Septr number, but my friends will know beforehand, as the Editor proposes to send a notice or Circular before it appears, to those who care to know about Mrs Campbell.
The Editor has been very civil & gentlemanly about it, & appears to take an interest in the article.
