Decr 15. 1829

Sir

I this day received the favour of your letter, <1> and have this morning received the £50 at Messrs Hammersley’s & Co <2> which I have placed to your acct and for which I am much obliged – I shall I assure you Sir, be at all times ready to meet your wishes in all respects, and had the expenditure been only £2800. I should have made no hesitation in acceding to your Suggestion fee. I should be extremely sorry to be thought in any way illiberal. but as the expenditure in the County with the London Bells will nearly approach £3500 I hope you will not consider it commensurable in my begging that the Item for superintendence may be put at £125. This I trust you will consider fair on my part, especially when I assure you that it is the invariable rule in the profession for the Commission to be charged on the whole expenditure without distinction. –

If it may not be convenient to you to favour me any further Remittance, a note payable at your Banker at 3 or even 4 In: after date will do equally well for me.

I cannot however conclude without observing, that should you upon this explanation still think 100 Guineas the proper Sum to be put for Superintendence, I shall certainly not press the subject further, and shall submit to whatever you may think right, as it is my earnest & particular desire to give you satisfaction

I have the honor to be
Sir
Your very obd hb Sert

H Harrison
