My dear Sir,
I will take charge of your paper for the Royal Society, <1> though I fear it is now too late to inset it in the <Billet?> – If your continental Journey embraces the confines of Prussia & France then I anticipate we may have for next winters session a paper by you on the best weapons for modern warfare, or something of the sort, for the chances are you will see them in operation. I trust the ladies will direct their steps to some quiet corner & leave you to study war alone
wishing you much pleasure & a happy return
Your sincerely
Philip Kelland
