Dear Sir
I now forward you copy of Mr Hale’s opinion & had wished to have seen him on the subject but have not been able to meet with him to day – My own opinion is decidedly against your making any opposition in the Lords for I do not think you would succeed and you would at once be placed in that position that you could not plead ignorance of any possibility that your position with the Company could be altered by their own act – I should rest upon the Secretarys letter as amounting to an assurance that no variation or change in your relations was in their contemplation except so far as rendered necessary to effect the deviation in the line rendered necessary by the agreement If however you decide to interfere with the Bills in the Lords there is no time to be lost.
I have obtained the Probate of the will of the late Lady Elisabeth Feilding & left same with Messrs Stilwell to enter in their Books & register at the Bank & trouble you with the Proctors Bill for which you can send me or the Proctors an order on Messrs Stilwell
I am, Dear Sir
yours faithfully
