M Sir,
We took the earliest opportunity of reproducing in our journal la Lumière, your new method of Photography to which you have given the name of Amphitype. The Photographers of France have welcomed it with the most lively interest, but they have addressed to us several questions upon the subject which you alone are able to answer. I have the honour to send you a number of our Journal which will tell you better than I can do, how much what our practitioners await from your kindness to complete a communication which possesses so vast an importance in the estimation of all: and permit me to add my most pressing request to theirs in the name of the art which is already so much indebted to you for the position it has reached.
If, as I hope, you will oblige me by an answer, I shall consider that you take some interest in our publication and shall feel it a duty to direct it to you regularly.
Permit me to subscribe myself dear Sir, with the profoundest gratitude & respect
Your humble Servant
Ernest Lacan
