Sir

It appearing that you are indebted to the Horticultural Society in the Sum mentioned below, I am directed respectfully to call your particular and early attention to the accompanying report and resolution, and to request that Payment may be made to me here any day between the hours of 11 and 5.

I have the honor to be Sir Your Very obedient Servant

2 Yrs Subn £8•8•

To
Wm Henry Fox Talbot Esq.

(over)

At a General Meeting of the Horticultural Society held on the 6th of February 1830, the following Report was brought up by the Committee appointed on the 2nd of that Month to enquire into the State of the Society.

The Committee appointed at the last General Meeting beg leave to report that they are diligently proceeding in their investigation, and intend to lay before the Society a full statement of its affairs with as little delay as possible.

The Committee consider it as an imperative duty to report that considerable embarrassment has arisen to the Society from the arrears of Subscriptions not having been paid up, and that according to the statements laid before them such arrears on the 1st of January last together with Money due for Transactions sold exceeded the sum of £6000 – of which but a small portion has since been collected. They therefore strongly recommend that every Fellow should be called upon to lose no time in paying up his subscription

It was then resolved

That the report now presented by the Committee of Enquiry be received and entered on the Minutes, and that a letter be sent to each Member in arrear, and also that the Committee be requested within one Month to lay before the Society the List of all persons in arrear at that time.

Wm H. F. Talbot Esqre
31 Sackville Street
