The contest in which we have been Engaged having now terminated, it becomes my pleasing duty to return you my most cordial thanks for the support you were good enough to give me. I shall ever retain a grateful sense of your kindness & hope by my future conduct in Parliament to prove to you that your confidence has not been misplaced.
