My dear Talbot
I went down yesterday according to my promise but Brougham <1> did not present the Petition.
To day I am sorry to say I am confined to my Sofa. I only mention this lest you should suspect me of forgetfulness of your wishes
Always yours
Montegle
Notes:
1. Henry Peter Brougham, Baron of Brougham & Voux (1778–1868), Lord Chancellor was to have petitioned against the Great Western Railway. WHFT, like many landlords, objected to the route proposed by the Railway through their land. [See Doc. No: 00066]
