Lyme Regis Dorset
August 26th 1870
My dear Mr Talbot,
Many thanks for the sight of the enclose, I am afraid I shall not be fortunate enough to get the curacy, as I have engaged myself for the next three weeks to a Mr Harrison at North Curry, near Taunton, but I have written to Mr Carter –
I replied to Mr Awdry’s proposal last week, and, I Daresay before you receive this, you will have heard the result from him. I heard yesterday from the Bishop that he will accept my resignation. I will write to Mr Roach to propose that he shall remain as my locum tenens till October 1st on which <illeg> day I propose to resign the living. I will write again soon, but I am in the middle of packing which is a serious matter with so many.
Your Aff Coz:
Edward P. Nicholl
